Money-Saving Tips
- Get at least 3 quotes from licensed movers — Bay Area prices vary widely. Check YELP and Google reviews carefully.
- Move on a weekday. Weekend and end-of-month moves cost 20–30% more in the Bay Area.
- Declutter before you pack — donate, sell, or discard anything you haven't used in a year. Less stuff = lower moving cost.
- Start collecting free boxes from liquor stores, grocery stores, and Nextdoor/Facebook Marketplace weeks in advance.
- Ask your mover about "valuation coverage" — standard liability is only $0.60/lb, which won't cover high-value items.
- Budget an extra 15–20% buffer — moving costs almost always run over estimate.

Actual costs vary significantly based on the specific movers you hire, timing, accessibility of your home, and items moved. Always obtain written quotes from licensed, insured moving companies.
